5 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari

The 5 days Uganda Wildlife Safari is a wildlife exploration safari leading to two of Uganda’s stunning savannah National Parks in western Uganda, each offering extraordinary wildlife species. Although some wildlife species such as buffaloes, common elands, Defassa waterbucks, spotted hyenas, leopards, Topis and warthogs among others are found in both Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth National Parks, others are not found in both. Lake Mburo National Park is the smallest savannah Park but offers chances of seeing the elegant zebras, Impalas and Rothschild giraffes while your visit to Queen Elizabeth National Park rewards you with the majestic views of lions, elephants and Uganda kobs among others.

Day 1: Drive to Lake Mburo National Park and afternoon boat cruise.

Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 3: Morning game drive and launch cruise.

Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking and tour of the Crater Lakes.

Day 5: Transfer to Kampala.

Detailed itinerary of the 5 days Uganda Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Drive to Lake Mburo National Park and afternoon boat cruise

After a peaceful night, have breakfast and make sure to be prepared by 6:30am for your journey to Lake Mburo National Park. Your 4 hours’ journey will be filled with beautiful views of Uganda’s countryside and stopovers. Your first stop is at Uganda Equator for photos, snacks, cup of coffee and some of the Equator experiments. Continue until Lyantonde Town where you will branch off to Lake Mburo National Park through Nshara Gate or until Sanga Gate where your game drive will start. Drive slowly while spotting the animals-warthogs, buffaloes, Impalas, Defassa waterbucks and Topis and continue to the Lodge for Lunch.

In the afternoon head for a boat cruise along Lake Mburo, the largest Lake in the Park where you will spot the Hippos and Nile crocodiles on the shores of the Lake as well as African fish eagles, Pelicans and Grey-crowned cranes freely flying in the blue sky. In the evening return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Break the day early enough to catch-up with the early risers of the Park such as spotted hyenas and leopards. Have breakfast and hop into the waiting vehicle for a game drive that will reward you with lots of animal views. Meet the leopards for their last hunts or the spotted hyenas following stealthily and waiting to grab or scavenge from the leopards as well as the zebras, Impalas, common elands, Defassa waterbucks, bushbucks and oribis grazing. You have high chances of seeing the Rothschild giraffes browsing from Acassia trees. Return to the Lodge for a quick snack and check-out of the Lodge for a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will be in your next destination by evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Morning game drive and launch cruise

Wake up to a hot cup of tea/coffee and set out for the game drive to have a view of the other nocturnal wildlife species that were not spotted in Lake Mburo National Park especially Lions and numerous spotted hyenas, bush babies as well as leopards. Don’t miss out on the large herds of elephants, buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, waterbucks and warthogs among others. Return to the Lodge for a more relaxed breakfast or snack and in the afternoon have Lunch.

Embark on a launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel starting 2:00pm offering closer encounter with the Hippos and Nile crocodiles that will be few meters away from the boat as well as several swamp and water bird species on the shores of the Channel. Later return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking and tour of the Crater Lakes

Have breakfast and head to the narrow and lush forest of Kyambura gorge for a magical chimpanzee tracking moment with the small population of these great apes. Be briefed and enter the forest to search for the chimpanzees and this will last 1-2 hours but most interestingly spend one unforgettable hour interacting with them and taking photos. You will get a chance to see other residents of the forest especially black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys and olive baboons as well as birds, reptiles and Amphibian species of special interest. Return to the Lodge for Lunch.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is a home to numerous Crater Lakes including Lakes Katwe, Nyamunuka and Bunyampaka among others and on this hot afternoon you will be exploring some of them and interestingly spot some of the migratory bird species Retire to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.
